Parick Mahomes fourth-best play: Daggering the Titans clinch Super Bowl berth

The Tennessee Titans can’t get away from this countdown of Mahomes’ best just yet. The Titans were the underdog of the NFL last season, fighting their way to the AFC Championship after eliminating the defending Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots, and the one-seeded Baltimore Ravens. It was mega of gauntlets if they wanted to get to the Super Bowl. Take out Tom Brady, Lamar Jackson, and then Patrick Mahomes? It sounds like a pipe dream. And as Mahomes showed, it was.

The Titans were off to a great start, getting up 10-0 in the first quarter and eventually 17-7 after the Chiefs had scored. It was a perfect situation for the Titans who had utilized Derrick Henry to drain the clock in the playoffs. But as the Chiefs showed, they were never out even when down by large deficits. After the week prior, 10 was nothing for Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. Eventually, they would get back up and with seven minutes and change to go in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs had a 28-17 lead with a first down destroying the Titans’ hopes.

On third and six, Mahomes delivered the dagger to the Titans with a deep heave to Sammy Watkins on a play that seemed to have him all locked up.

The dominance of Mahomes became laughable at times for the fans as his throws seemed inhuman time and time again. This was yet another case and it wasn’t even enough to get in his top three plays of the season. That’s what makes it so laughable. Lucky for the Titans, they get a rest here.
