No. 2 – Chet Holmgren – C – 7-foot, 190 pounds – Minneapolis, MN

Holmgren is one of the most physically interesting prospects in the 2021 class, and perhaps in any recent prospect class, standing a legitimate seven feet tall with the ability to shoot the ball from 3-point range. He is built as a prototype for the modern NBA with his size and ability to stretch the floor, and his passing is excellent for a big his size. He’s going to take a while to grow into his body and put on muscle, but his physical development seems to be the only knock on his upside at the moment.

There are few leanings as to Holmgren’s preference. He’s been offered by 29 schools according to 247Sports, and has made visits to Gonzaga and Ohio St. Minnesota is known to be interested in keeping Holmgren in-state, but a prospect like Holmgren is going to continue to fight off interest from the top programs in the country. He would be an ideal fit in Mark Few’s system.

PREDICTION: Gonzaga Bulldogs

No. 1 – Jonathan Kuminga – SF – 6-foot-8, 205 pounds – Congo

The number one player in the 2021 class recently released his final five list that included Texas Tech, Duke, Auburn, Kentucky, and the NBA G League. There is a 50/50 chance that Kuminga will reclassify to the 2020 class, and if so, it would seem the reason to do so would be to forego college and take advantage of the development opportunities afforded by the NBA G League.

If Kuminga remains in the 2021 class, the prevailing sentiment seems to be that Texas Tech is in the driver’s seat for the raw and talented forward who possesses tremendous upside. However, early rumblings had Duke’s interest very much piqued at the prospect of capping its potential top-rated class with the number one prospect, and given recent history at the top of recruiting classes, we think Duke will once again land its man.

PREDICTION: Duke Blue Devils
