Pittsburgh Penguins: Ken Wregget

Journeyman goaltender Ken Wregget recorded a commendable career after first appearing in the NHL back in 1983-84 and later retiring in 1999-00. The Brandon, Manitoba native spent parts of seven seasons with the Penguins from 1991-92 until the end of the 1997-98 campaign, while collecting a Stanley Cup ring along the way in 1992.

The 1982 third-round draft pick arguably left young fans with nightmares during the 1990s after taking to the ice with an unforgettable mask in NHL history.

One of Wregget’s masks with Pittsburgh pictured Dany Devito’s character “The Penguin” from the 1992 film Batman Returns. The villain is one of the most remembered in the Batman series, well, because he was scary looking.

Wregget’s mask had The Penguin’s spooky face on the top-area of his mask, and the design running up both sides of the mask made it pop that much more. Who could also forget the small “robot” Penguin logo placed in the chin area?

There’s no doubting this mask was bold.
