7. Calais Campbell

The Ravens should be charged with grand larceny after acquiring Campbell for a fifth round pick. The Jaguars were happy to shed the veteran defensive end’s salary, but they should have held out for more return in any trade.

Baltimore’s defense will certainly benefit from Campbell’s ability to play well against both the run and pass. He’s not the quickest rusher off the edge, but he might be one of the best run defenders in the league. There just aren’t many defensive ends who can hold up like Campbell at the point of attack.

As such, Ravens fans shouldn’t judge Campbell’s contributions on his sack totals in 2020. Instead, watch how much attention he requires from opposing offensive lineman. His ability to draw double teams on a regular basis is going to make life much easier for his teammates.

The Ravens hope that acquiring Campbell can make their defense as dominant as their offense. He might not be able to help them accomplish that feat, but he can serve as a massive upgrade. He doesn’t get the recognition he deserves since he’s not an elite edge rusher.
