The Raiders are going to be the definition of ‘okay’ in 2020. Not great, but not terrible (unless they tank for Trevor Lawrence which to be honest, wouldn’t be a terrible idea for this franchise).

There are not many candidates for someone that will breakout on this team. I will not waste my or your time hyping up Derek Carr or Tyrell Williams, nor is it fair to tell you to draft Josh Jacobs because that’s a no-brainer. Instead, let’s talk about their first round draft pick out of Alabama.

Henry Ruggs (currently ranked as: WR50): Listen, I don’t expect Ruggs to storm out the gate and set the league ablaze (although he does have the speed to do that). I don’t expect or think he will be a top ten WR this year.

I look at Ruggs as someone with enormous amounts of potential. Knowing Jon Gruden, I get the feeling he is going to try to get the ball to Ruggs early and often and utilize his unique skill set. I expect Ruggs to be used similar to how the Chiefs use Tyreek Hill.

He won’t be as successful because he doesn’t have Mahomes throwing him the ball, but the Raiders will run some end-arounds and screen plays to get the ball in Ruggs hands’ and see what he can do. I expect Ruggs to finish as a top 30 WR while being able to draft him at a fraction of that cost.
