4. Young guys stepping up

Eight of the main rotation players on the squad are still in their 20s. But for this section, let’s focus on Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Derrick Jones Jr., Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson. Four of these five guys (Adebayo, Herro, Nunn and Robinson) average double figures and are led by Adebayo’s 16.2 points a night.

Adebayo has emerged as an all-around threat with 10.5 boards, 5.1 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. He’s shooting 56.7 percent from the field as well.

Nunn is a diamond in the rough who’s blossomed as an undrafted free agent. He’s fourth on the team in scoring at 15.6 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting, including 36.2 percent from long range.

Robinson is Miami’s best shooter, converting 44.8 percent of his 3-pointers on 8.4 attempts a night. Herro is chipping in 12.9 points per game and should be fully healthy after missing 15 games with an ankle injury before the suspension. Jones provides plenty of athleticism off the bench with high-flying dunks.

Adebayo and Herro were expected to be good players right away out of Kentucky, but Jones (UNLV), Nunn (Oakland) and Robinson (bench player at Michigan) have been unexpected and invaluable young pieces for Miami.
