1. Lamar Jackson will take a step back

It’s hard to accurately describe just how good Jackson was in 2019. He completed over 66 percent of his passes for 3.127 yards. More impressively, he managed to throw 36 touchdowns against just six interceptions.

Staying healthy for 15 games was arguably Jackson’s most impressive achievement. He takes a lot of hits from he quarterback position despite his amazing ability to glance off opposing defenders. There’s obviously a significant chance that he misses games in 2020. If he does, the Ravens offensive immediately shifts down from great to average.

Even if he does manage to stay healthy for another full campaign, it’s easy to envision a scenario where his performance level comes back down to Earth. Opposing defenses are going to force him to make more precise throws from the pocket. He’s got plenty of arm strength to complete any route in the playbook, but he’s not the league’s most accurate passer in tight spaces. That could also cause his interception percentage to increase nominally.

The odds are strongly in favor of Jackson putting up another really good season for Baltimore in 2020. That doesn’t mean he’s a lock to be an MVP candidate again. Anything less than that will cost the Ravens wins.
