The Wisconsin football schedule begins with a challenging Big Ten test.

Sep. 4 vs Indiana

20. 813. 31. 809. Prediction

Wisconsin opens the season at home against an Indiana team that could be a sleeper in the Big Ten West. The Hoosiers went 8-5 last year and showed some real promise at certain points of the season. The defense was still lacking though and being that the strength of the Hoosiers is offense, and the strength of the Badgers team will be defense, it will be tough for Indiana to pull off the road upset to open the season. Coan comes out as the starter and the Badgers get an early conference victory.

Sep. 12 vs Southern Illinois

It’s an FCS opponent for Wisconsin in Week 2 and a rather lackluster one at that. Southern Illinois went 7-5 last season. This one is where if there isn’t a clear starter at running back, someone can show their worth against a less than impressive defense. Coan will get settled in and the Badgers will roll to a victory in Week 2. No repeats of 2007 Appalachian State against Michigan here.

Final Score: 54-7

Sep. 19 vs Appalachian State

Speaking of Appalachian State, they are the next opponent on the schedule for Wisconsin. This one isn’t going to be an easy one by any measure for the Badgers as since joining the FBS ranks in 2014, the Mountaineers have a record of 60-17. This is also a team that finished No. 19 in the final college football rankings last season with a 13-1 record and has won five straight bowl games. This is going to be a run-heavy Mountaineers team though, and with how good Wisconsin should be at defending the run, I don’t see a path to victory them.

Final Score: Appalachian State 14, Wisconsin 34

Sep. 26 at Michigan

17. 809. 27. 811. Prediction

This will be the first big test for the Badgers in 2020 as they have to travel to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines. It was a huge home victory for Wisconsin in 2019, but this year without Jonathan Taylor things are going to be different. Coan is going to have a tough time moving the ball on what should be a great Michigan defense and with this being just the fourth game into the season, I’m not sure how great the rushing attack is going to be for the Badgers. Michigan on the other hand, should have one of the best running back platoons in the country, and it will be enough to give them a slight edge at home.
