2020 will mark Frank Reich‘s third year as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Though it was under strange circumstances for him to even get the job back in 2018, Reich has shown us he’ll be an excellent head coach for the Colts going forward. What he does need to do is get the right quarterback long-term and start winning AFC South divisional crowns. Could that happen in 2020?

Reich has brought over his former San Diego Chargers quarterback in Philip Rivers for what looks to be a stop-gap year in Indianapolis. Rivers will probably retire at the end of the season, so he can coach his son at the high school football level. Indianapolis also drafted an underrated quarterback prospect in former five-star recruit Jacob Eason. If he hits, the Colts are in great shape.

Whether it was backing up Jim Kelly during his playing days with the Buffalo Bills, playing for the same Maryland football program that produced Boomer Esiason and Neil O’Donnell, or coaching on Doug Pederson’s Super Bowl 52 staff with the Philadelphia Eagles, Reich has always been underrated and cast in the shadows of someone greater than him. That could change here soon.

The AFC South is incredibly winnable, as the Colts have their best shot at a division title since they reached the 2014 AFC Championship Game. Indianapolis used to dominate this division when Peyton Manning was the quarterback. Should the Colts host a home playoff game this year, Reich will be a huge reason for it. He’ll be seen as one of the better coaches in the AFC in year three.
