NFL quarterback power rankings

12. San Francisco 49ers (Jimmy Garoppolo)

The 49ers represented the NFC in the past Super Bowl, and they had the game in their hands before Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs stormed back to steal the win.

Jimmy Garoppolo burdened most of the blame for the loss after he and the team had a spectacular regular season. He threw for 3,978 yards with 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Still, the 49ers rushing attack took over in the playoffs, and Garoppolo was not asked to win games on his own. Until he needed to make throws down the stretch in the Super Bowl, and he did not make them.

Garoppolo has been the topic of a lot of debate this offseason surrounding his ability. Is he overrated? Can he win games on his own for the 49ers in crucial spots? We will have to wait and see if he answers these questions in 2020.

11. Philadelphia Eagles (Carson Wentz)

Let’s not forget that Carson Wentz was well on his way to a MVP award during the 2017 season. Unfortunately, he sustained a season-ending injury and had to watch on the sideline as Nick Foles led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win.

For that reason alone, fans continued to keep an open debate on if the team was better off with Foles or Wentz. The answer to that question is clearly Wentz, but he can’t stay on the field enough to prove his doubters wrong.

When Wentz plays, he is one of the best in the NFL. However, he has played 16 games in a season just twice, and this past year he had to leave the team’s playoff game due to a concussion.

10. Dallas Cowboys (Dak Prescott)

Dak Prescott is encapsulated in conversation centered around “just how good is he?” Is he overrated? Underrated? Does he deserve the money he is reportedly seeking in his new contract?

There are far more questions than those, but the point has been made.

Prescott will enter 2020 fresh off a career season in 2019. His 30 touchdown throws, and 4,902 yards were both career highs, and his quarterback rating reached its highest mark (99.7) since his rookie season (104.9).
