Heavyweight boxer Jarrell Miller has once again tested positive for a PED. Miller’s career may be finished.

Heavyweight boxer Jarrell Miller blew the opportunity of a lifetime when he tested positive for multiple PEDs before a planned title bout with champion Anthony Joshua. Shockingly, it appears that he has tested positive for a PED again.

In the afternoon on Saturday, June 27, reporter Mike Coppinger with The Athletic, tweeted out that Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs) has tested positive for a PED before his July 9 return to boxing.

“Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller has tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance and has been pulled from July 9 fight with Jerry Forrest on ESPN, sources tell The Athletic,” read Coppinger’s tweet.

In April of 2019, Miller tested positive for three separate PEDs before his bout with Joshua. Initially, Miller accepted responsibility for his actions on Instagram in a brief video message, where he apologized for letting his fans down.

In June of 2019, Miller gave his first interview on the iFL TV Youtube channel. Miller backtracked on his comments to a degree and blamed his positive tests on a stemcell shot.

In that interview, Miller wasn’t pressed to explain how a stemcell shot made him test positive for three PEDs. It was a lousy excuse then, and it’s even more laughable now with his latest positive test.

After Jarrell Miller’s second positive PED test in a row, no one’s sure of what his next move will be.

Miller tried to rehab his image by signing a managerial contract with music mogul and boxing manager J. Prince. The relationship was facilitated by Adrian Clark, who’s a close friend of Miller’s and part of his inner circle. That union led Miller to sign a promotional deal with Top Rank Boxing. Miller was set to make his boxing return on July 9 against Jerry Forrest.

FanSided reached out to Clark for comment. Although not an official advisor for Miller, Clark is close to Miller and his team. Clark and Miller’s team aren’t commenting on the specific drug Miller tested positive for, but Clark confirmed that it is a PED. VADA administered Miller’s failed test.

“‘Blindsided’ is the best word for this situation,” Clark told FanSided. “We may be shocked, meaning J. Prince and myself. I know we’re definitely shocked by the situation. I’m pretty sure Top Rank is also shocked.”

“I’ve been texting him [Miller]. I know he’s not in a good headspace. Everyone is just getting the news that there was a positive test for a performance-enhancing drug.”

It’s not clear what Miller’s next move is. Miller and his team are awaiting more information from VADA on how to proceed. Clark offered some thoughts on what Miller needs to do next.

“My focal point now is to make sure he hollers at J. Prince because J. was very influential on all the deals,” said Clark.

It’s almost a certainty that Miller’s July 9 fight is off. What happens next is anyone’s guess, but Miller’s career and future in boxing hang in the balance.
