With Tom Brady out of the AFC East, the Buffalo Bills appear to be the prime candidate to have their way with the division for the near future. Last year, the team secured a Wild Card spot after going 10-6 in the regular season.  Behind one of the best defenses in the NFL, the Bills finished just two games behind the Patriots.

The defense has been set in place for another dominant year, and the Bills have boasted one of the better units of recent. This offseason, the front office dove into adding on offense and gave Josh Allen a legitimate wide receiver in Stefon Diggs, which rounds out the team well.

However, there is still one large question. Is Allen good enough to develop and help the Bills while the team’s window is flung wide open?

Coming into the NFL, Allen’s biggest issue was his accuracy. In college, he was not an accurate passer, and that tendency has followed him to the NFL. He did show some progress, increasing his completion percentage from 52.8% his rookie year to 58.8% last season.

Allen is a grinder though. He finds ways to win games, and that should be noted. Last season he had five game-winning drives and four fourth-quarter comebacks, and he finished with a stat line of 3,089 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also racked up 510 yards on the ground and nine rushing touchdowns.

When evaluating Allen, you see he is an athletic quarterback who oozes with potential. He has one of the strongest arms in the NFL as well, but he just needs to iron out the pass accuracy to become one of the league’s best.

Allen will face a lot of pressure this season because he needs to develop, but also prove he won’t be a detriment while the team’s best window compete is still open. In short, is he Mark Sanchez? Or, can he become a plus quarterback in the NFL and lead the Bills?
