Houston Texans: CB Jonathan Joseph

The Texans haven’t even been around for 20 years so there is a limited history of free agent signings to choose from. We’ll go with Joseph, who signed with the Texans in 2011 after spending four years with the Bengals. Joseph spent the next nine years in Houston, reaching two Pro Bowls and maintaining a starting cornerback job.

Indianapolis Colts: QB Johnny Unitas

We’ll go back to the Baltimore days for one of the greatest players in Colts’ history. After the Steelers cut him in 1955, Unitas spent a year out of football before signing with the Colts. That move was one of the shrewdest in NFL history as Unitas developed into one of the forerunners of the modern passing game.

Jacksonville Jaguars: WR Keenan McCardell

After spending his first five years in the league with Washington and Cleveland, McCardell linked up with the expansion Jaguars in 1996. McCardell teamed with Jimmy Smith to give Jacksonville one of the NFL’s most dynamic pass-catching duos in the late 1990s. The Jaguars saw McCardell rack up 499 catches for 6,393 yards and 30 touchdowns in six seasons.

Tennessee Titans: TE Delanie Walker

This one went under the radar when it happened as Walker was the 49ers’ second tight end when he signed with Tennessee in 2013. Walker blossomed as a focal point of the Titans’ offense, making three straight Pro Bowls between 2015 and 2017. Injuries have hurt Walker the past two years but he has been worth every penny of his contract in Tennessee.
