NFC East

Dallas Cowboys: CB Deion Sanders

This won’t be the only time we discuss Prime Time as Sanders has made one of the best free-agent impacts in NFL history. After helping the 49ers beat the Cowboys in the 1994 playoffs, Sanders joined Dallas in 1995 and was a key part of the Super Bowl XXX champions. Sanders made five straight First-Team All-Pro appearances during his five years as a member of America’s Team.

New York Giants: LB Antonio Pierce

Of all the stars on the 2007 Super Bowl champions, Pierce doesn’t get nearly as much credit as players like Eli Manning and Michael Strahan. After signing as a free agent from Washington in 2006, Pierce became a Pro Bowler and a leader on the Giants’ defense. Pierce made a ton of big plays in the postseason that year, including a huge game-saving tackle in the NFC Championship Game against Green Bay.

Philadelphia Eagles: CB Troy Vincent

The Eagles got the benefit of a change-of-scenery breakout with Vincent, who began his career with the Miami Dolphins. Vincent signed with the Eagles in 1996 and emerged as the best player in Philadelphia’s secondary by 1999. From 1999 to 2003 Vincent made five consecutive Pro Bowls and tied for the NFL lead in interceptions in 1999.

Washington Redskins: RB John Riggins

This is an early free-agent signing for this list, but the Redskins did well when they landed Riggins in 1975. After making the Pro Bowl with the Jets in 1975, Riggins became a force as Washington’s lead running back. Riggins was a key member of the Redskins’ first two Super Bowl-winning teams, including an MVP performance in Super Bowl XVII, and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992.
