The most underrated college football team from every Power 5 conference

Underrated college football team from the SEC: Auburn Tigers
The SEC is more wide open than it’s been in years. Alabama has some question marks it hasn’t had in years, coming off the first year without a College Football Playoff appearance since the College Football Playoff was introduced. Georgia and Florida come up right behind the Crimson Tide in SEC odds, but at 3/1 and 5/1 respectively, are they really worth those odds? LSU, the reigning SEC and National Champions, lost 14 players in the NFL Draft, including Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow.
Then, there’s Auburn. They were an intriguing team all last season, seeing themselves in the top 15 for most of the season after beating Oregon in Week 1. They only lost to top-ten teams last season before their bowl game against Minnesota.
The number-one reason for optimism stands under center. Bo Nix is going to be a sophomore this season after showing incredible poise in his freshman season. He was named the SEC Freshman of the Year, and to be honest it couldn’t have been close. He led one of the top teams in the country to a nine-win season. Now, Nix is ready to take the next step.
Despite everything going their way, Auburn still finds themselves sixth in odds to win the SEC. 12/1 isn’t the best odds, but when it’s a team that has a legitimate shot to win a conference like Auburn has, then it’s worth the money. The Tigers are being overlooked for some reason, and we expect them to step up.
Their schedule actually fills out nicely this season. They do have to play the Iron Bowl on the road to end the season, but we’ve seen them win in Tuscaloosa before. The other big game they have to play on the road is against Georgia. However, they get Texas A&M and LSU at home. They might go into that game against Alabama on Nov. 28 with this side of the conference on the line. Auburn only has four true road games all season, and none are on back-to-back weeks. This is a team we should be betting on.
