5 things you may not know about Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields
1. Justin Fields was Mr. Georgia Football in high school.
In high school sports, there are many individual accolades and records a football player can achieve and accomplish. From being a member of an all-district or all-state team to being a career record holder for your school and/or the state you played, the honors are numerous and should be worn proudly.
Another individual award in the state of Georgia is the “Mr. Georgia Football” award, which is selected by The Touchdown Club Atlanta to the top player in Georgia Football of that year. Fields achieved this honor following his senior year but what made this achievement even more impressive was that Fields’ senior year was brought to a halt after seven games following a broken finger. But in those seven games, Fields passed for over 1,600 passing yards and 21 touchdowns and ran for another 955 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Winning such an award on a shortened season should say a lot about the type of player Fields is and how great of a player he is as well. It also says a lot considering how talent-rich the state of Georgia is when it comes to prep football and Trevor Lawrence is in the same class.
