3. Will the Miami wide receivers step up to complement Jordan?

Full disclosure, the disastrous offense in terms of scheme and quarterback play really limited what we’ve seen of several pass-catchers that were on the roster in the 2019 season for Miami. The team’s leading receiver was Buffalo transfer K.J. Osborn — but he had only 50 catches for 547 yards and five touchdowns. The hope is that we’ll simply see more from the pass-catchers in the 2020 campaign simply by installing a functional offense and stable quarterback play.

Perhaps the best returning pass-catcher in terms of known commodities is tight end Brevin Jordan, an elite talent at the position. An athletic force that can win at all levels of the field as a receiver, Jordan was second on the Hurricanes with 35 catches for 495 yards last season. King will certainly rely on him in the passing game.

Outside of Jordan, though, it’s quite difficult to ascertain who the most likely candidate to step up is out of the returning players. Guys such as Dee Wiggins and Mark Pope have some experience but also have been hindered to this point by scheme and quarterback play.

With Lashley installing a spread offense, though, these receivers will need to rise to the occasion and be ready to simply see more looks coming their way. There is a chance that we could see a legitimate breakout star emerge from this group outside of Jordan but, looking at the roster now, anyone’s guess is as good as another for who it’ll be.
