TE. Las Vegas Raiders. 9. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Darren Waller. 28

Waller’s breakout year was one of the best stories of the 2019 campaign, with the Hard Knocks star putting his previous substance abuse problems behind him to emerge as a premier tight end.

The former Georgia Tech wide receiver caught 90 passes for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns as he helped fill the void in the passing game after the Antonio Brown saga ended with him being released by the Raiders.

Waller ranked first in Football Outsiders‘ Defense-adjusted yards above replacement among tight ends, ahead of the consensus top two tight players at the position in George Kittle and Travis Kelce.

But the Raiders have replenished their weapons ahead of their move to Las Vegas, with Henry Ruggs III, Lynn Bowden Jr and Bryan Edwards joining Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow in the receiving corps.

Waller will also have Jason Witten for company in the tight end room following the Raiders’ bemusing signing of the veteran former Dallas Cowboy.

All this means Waller will have a lot more competition for targets in 2020 as the Raiders adapt to life in their new home. He will look to prove his 2019 was not a fluke but his production is unlikely to be quite as impressive.
