9. New York Jets

Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams got the most out of a unit that had fallen off the previous few seasons. And if linebacker C.J. Mosley can stay healthy this year (he missed 14 games in 2019), this group will be even better. Of course, the status of star safety Jamal Adams has been a daily discussion. Will he be with the franchise this year?

8. Philadelphia Eagles

The Birds orchestrated one of the bigger deals of the offseason by sending a third- and fifth-round draft choice to the Lions for cornerback Darius Slay. The team still features one of the better and deeper defensive fronts in the league, led by perennial Pro Bowler Fletcher Cox and steady and ends Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers

After years of struggling to forced turnovers, the Steelers led the NFL in 2019 with 38 takeaways. And for the third consecutive year, Mike Tomlin’s team either led or tied for the league lead in sacks. There are All-Pros in outside linebacker T.J. Watt and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. But Keith Butler’s talented unit must be stouter against the run.
