The Cowboys were widely derided for their decision to trade a first-round pick for Cooper during the 2018 season. However, as Dallas approaches the 2020 season with many backing the Cowboys to contend for a deep playoff run, that decision has been firmly justified.

A route-running savant who has put the issues with drops that plagued the final stages of his career in Oakland firmly behind him, Cooper is one of the most well-rounded receivers in the NFL.

Cooper has established an incredible rapport with Dak Prescott, the duo ranking third among quarterback-wide receiver duos in catch rate above expectation since 2017.

Coming off a 2019 in which he set career highs in receiving yards (1,189), yards per reception (15.1) and touchdowns (8), Cooper still has significant room for growth in an offense that added even more firepower this offseason.

In addition to Michael Gallup, who also went over 1,000 yards last season, Prescott will have CeeDee Lamb to throw to in 2020, the Cowboys having selected the former Oklahoma star with the 17th overall pick in what was considered one of the steals of the draft.

Cooper should, therefore, see plenty of single coverage in the upcoming campaign. History tells us he should take full advantage of such one on one matchups and put up a third successive 1,000-yard season.
