Projected Kentucky basketball starting lineup: B.J. Boston, SG

This spot will likely go to B.J. Boston, whose talent should win out over the experience of Creighton transfer Davion Mintz. Boston, a 6-foot-6 wing from Chatsworth, CA, is the most highly-touted player in this class.

Few expect Boston to spend more than one year in Lexington since he should be a top-10 NBA draft pick in 2021. It all starts with Boston’s frame, which includes a 6-foot-10 wingspan, making him a nightmare as a defender on smaller shooting guards.

Boston is also explosive with the basketball, showcasing elite ball-handling skills and excellent passing ability. The Wildcats will also be thrilled with Boston’s shooting since he can catch-and-shoot from pretty much anywhere on the floor.

Many scouts have favorably compared Boston to former Wildcat Devin Booker, who is starring for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. If Boston comes even close to matching Booker’s upside the Wildcats could have a star on their hands.

The Wildcats could also choose to play Mintz here and slide Boston down to the three in an effort to create a more small-ball lineup. That possibility exists due to the tremendous versatility in Boston’s game.
