3B. J.D. Davis. 3. LF. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 1

J.D. Davis makes some sense as the Mets’ full-time DH. Third baseman-turned-outfielder struggled defensively in left field. However, Smith was expected to be the primary starter at that position coming into the 2020 season. He would be joined with Brandon Nimmo in center and Michael Conforto in right.

Last year’s breakout star for the Mets could receive most of the work in left field. But, Davis can now shift to the DH if the Mets choose to get Céspedes or Jeff McNeil reps in the outfield. There are tons of moving parts at play here, and Davis likely won’t be the DH as of as Cespedes, Smith, or even Alonso.

Davis is a good candidate for a Mets team who could use his bat in their everyday lineup. Last season, he had a lethal bat with .307 batting average with 22 home runs and 57 RBI.

Regardless of who the Mets deploy as the DH, they feature one of the best situations in the NL. The team has three viable options, which could very well be the DH from time-to-time. Plus, the Mets have a fourth option if all else fails, eight-time All-Star veteran Robinson Cano.
