Let’s talk offensive line, the place where Miami undoubtedly needs the most help. The line only becomes more important considering the injury troubles plaguing Miami’s man of the future, Tua Tagovailoa. If Miami wants him to become everything they hope he can be, a strong offensive line is a necessity. That certainly was not the case in 2019. Miami had one of the league’s worst offenses, in rushing yards and turnovers, and the offensive line played a large part in that.

Miami certainly understood that and made some changes to fix it. Ereck Flowers signed a substantial three-year, $30 million contract. While pricey, he will add some much-needed talent to be sure. With the draft, Miami brought in Austin Jackson from USC and Robert Hunt, both of whom will compete and likely receive a starting role by the season’s end. Ted Karras will act as a veteran leader at center on a one-year deal.

While Michael Deiter arguably had a worse year in 2019 than Davenport, the young rookie still has the argument of potential ahead of him. Davenport is running out of time to prove himself and a spot on the bench in 2020 will not help his cause, nor Miami’s, in any way.
