1. DT — Mario Edwards Jr.

Similarly to Robertson, Edwards Jr. fails to have much of an investable role on the Saints defense. Yes, he has proven to be a solid backup option, with 14 appearances and eight tackles in 2019, but the Saints have no reason to commit to him. Edwards sits behind Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport, two absolute monsters. Sheldon Rankins will also reenter the picture this year assuming he returns to health while Malcolm Brown made noticeable contributions as well. Brown is locked up until 2022, as is Davenport. The Saints have also placed their money on Jordan and will likely have to do the same if they intend to keep Rankins on the roster.

If New Orleans were to invest in another linebacker, it is not likely to be a five-year veteran either. Zack Baun was brought into Louisiana for a reason, while undrafted free agent Shy Tuttle impressed many in his debut season. Unlike Edwards Jr., Tuttle appeared in all 16 games last season with 18 tackles, two sacks and an interception. You also cannot forget about David Onyemata, who recently signed an extension as well. Why would New Orleans throw money at Edwards when there are many other valuable pieces already set to stay in the South?

All of that means that Mario Edwards Jr. has no real purpose in New Orleans and would be better served somewhere else.
