DraftKings PGA: 2020 Workday Charity Open Picks
Hideki Matsuyama 10,000
Matsuyama is striking the ball pure. His putting was atrocious on Friday at the Rocket Mortgage, but he rebounded on the weekend nicely. If he can roll in some putts this week he is going to rack up birdies in a hurry.
Hideki ranks 3rd overall in my model. In this field, Hideki-bot ranks 2nd in TTG and 4th in SG Total. He is lights out in every stat in my model except putting. He also loves this course, and if the greens play slower the stats confirm that he putts better on slow greens.
Patrick Reed 8,800
Watching Reed at the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic and 2019 Memorial I was a huge fan of his ability to flight down his wedges into the greens. The tree line at this course affords you the opportunity to keep it low and avoid the wind. Despite his missed cut at Rocket Mortgage, Reeds has been playing great golf. He is a superb Bentgrass putter (top in the field), his iron game is trending, and he is sneaky good at longer par 72 courses. Reed can also get Uber hot and win in any field.
Jordan Spieth 8,600
Those who watch the PGA know that Spieth is an extremely volatile golfer. DFSers will agree that he is a stud, but does not fit the bill of an elite golfer. He is relying on stats that are unsustainable. I don’t care. Give me all the Spieth at a low ownership. His around the green game and putting prowess will be elevated this week with easier conditions. He is going to have one round in the low 60’s and everyone is going to be bashing him for it. People call him a volatile golfer, but he is 11/12 on made cuts this season and this is a scrub field.
