Projected North Carolina basketball starting lineup: R.J. Davis, SG

The Tar Heels look to have an all-freshman backcourt with Davis playing alongside Love. A 6-foot-1 guard from White Plains, NY, Davis played for Stepinac High School and is considered one of the best prospects to come out of the New York City area this year.

Davis brings fire and intensity to the Tar Heels’ lineup, something which the group desperately needs after a lackluster performance last season. As a high schooler, Davis teamed with Duke commit Adrian Griffin Jr to lead Stepinac into the state playoffs.

North Carolina will also enjoy the fact that Davis is a naturally gifted scorer who can create despite his smaller frame. That size will be considered a knock by some who feel that Davis is simply not big enough to make an impact at the next level.

What can’t be ignored for Davis is his production and desire, which allows him to outwork bigger players at his position to achieve results. Davis is well aware that people haven’t given him as much respect as his play merits which should put a big chip on his shoulder this season.

Williams will likely utilize both Davis and Love at the point with the other playing off the ball. Having a pair of floor generals who can create their own shot is a big advantage for the Tar Heels this season.
