P. Damaso Marte. 2. Pick Analysis. . player. 128. Scouting Report

Damaso Marte is another White Sox player whose only appearance came in that exciting Game 3 victory. His clutch pitching is what allowed Blum to be the hero by putting the White Sox ahead in the 14th inning.

Marte began the bottom of the 13th inning on the mound with the score tied 5-5. He put the winning run on base with a walk, but bounced back to get two straight strikeouts and a groundout to keep the game alive.

He returned to the mound with a 7-5 lead. He was able to get two outs, but left with two runners on base after an error by Juan Uribe. Buehrle came in and got the final out.

This ended up being Marte’s final outing with the White Sox and it could not have been better. He went on to win another World Series with the New York Yankees in 2009 and holds a career postseason ERA of 0.00. Marte was a key piece in the White Sox bullpen from 2003-05 and his best outing came as a curtain call to help the franchise win its first World Series title since World War I.
