Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. P. . player. 40. Jeremy Affeldt. 2

Jeremy Affeldt played his best baseball during his stint with the Giants that lasted from 2009-2015. The reliever really turned up his play in the postseason and played a key role in all three World Series victories.

Affeldt had a career 3.06 ERA in San Francisco and appeared in at least 62 games in three years between 2010-2014. He also kept his ERA under 3.75 every year from 2011-2014.

Yet it was the postseason where Affeldt’s impact was felt the most. And in a good way.

He only had limited action in the 2010 postseason with five total appearances. Then came 2012 when he appeared in 10 total games, finishing with a 0.00 ERA in 10.1 innings of work. He one-upped himself in the 2014 postseason with another 0.00 ERA in 11 games. The reliever had 5.1 innings of scoreless work in the World Series that year to cap off one of the best seasons of his entire career.

Affeldt finished his entire career with a 1-0 record and a 0.77 ERA in the World Series. This includes a 0.00 ERA in the 2007 series as a member of the Colorado Rockies. He did not earn three rings in the Bay Area by mistake and goes down as a key pitcher on a staff filled with plenty of bigger names.
