1. Top Kentucky basketball recruiting targets: Paolo Banchero, PF

The most likely recruit to land with Kentucky basketball in the upcoming recruiting cycle is Banchero. A 6-foot-9 power forward from Seattle, Banchero is one of the highest-rated recruits in the 2021 class and would make a great addition to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Banchero’s frame is already impressive and he should be able to grow into it over the next year. Scouts already believe that Banchero can play either the four or five in college, so he could effortlessly slide into the starting lineup next to Diabate as a freshman.

In terms of his offensive game, Banchero has already become known for his ability to hit jumpers from the high post. That floor positioning also allows Banchero to take advantage of his excellent court vision to dish the ball to cutting teammates or open perimeter shooters.

Banchero does have some work to do on his outside shot, which would take his game to another level. An improved perimeter shot would significantly increase Banchero’s chances of success at the NBA level, but Kentucky basketball would be thrilled to get a player of his capability right now.

Calipari would essentially get a plug-and-play big in Banchero, something that he doesn’t really have this season. Securing these three recruits would be an outstanding haul for Kentucky in 2021.
