Garrett Wilson | Sophomore | WR

The player that is most likely headed towards a breakout season for the Buckeyes in 2020 is unquestionably Garrett Wilson.

Wilson is a 6-foot, 193-pound speed demon from Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. As a true freshman receiver last season for the Buckeyes, Wilson found himself deep behind a slew of seniors on the depth chart. Still, Wilson found a way to get on the field and make big plays often. He caught 30 passes for 432 yards and five touchdowns. But what was more impressive than the stats was the freakish athleticism that he showed time and time again.

That athleticism was put on full display on a national stage against Clemson in the College Football Playoff Semifinal. Wilson fielded a high pass from quarterback Justin Fields and elevated to the point of astonishment to make the acrobatic grab.

While that play was the pinnacle of Wilson’s athleticism in his freshman season, he was still seen making catches similar to that all year. With three seniors graduating from the wide receiving corps in 2019, Wilson has the chance to become a star in college football next season if the chips fall correctly.

His speed is something to marvel at too. With limited playing time early in the season, Ryan Day couldn’t ignore Wilson’s electricity and he became the regular punt returner for the Buckeyes as well.

Expect to see Wilson to be making even more awe-striking plays in 2020 and don’t be surprised if you see a couple of punt return touchdowns as well.
