Oklahoma football: 5 recruits most likely to sign with Oklahoma Sooners
By John Buhler
Who wouldn’t want to play in Lincoln Riley’s offense in any capacity? One player the Sooners have a really great shot at landing in this cycle is four-star guard Bryce Foster from Katy, Texas. At 6-foot-4.5 and 315 pounds, the Taylor High School standout is the No. 4 guard in his class, the No. 8 player from Texas and the No. 64 player national in the eyes of the 247Sports Composite.
Foster has 22 official offers but is looking hard at playing for one of these five teams: The LSU Tigers, Oklahoma, the Oregon Ducks, the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies. At this time, one could argue Oklahoma is his leader with Texas A&M as the biggest challenger for his recruitment. Do the Sooners have what it takes to land this lineman from suburban Houston?
Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh is Foster’s primary recruiter. He is also the primary recruiter for five-star offensive tackle Tristan Leigh from Fairfax, Virginia. Though getting Leigh to leave the Mid-Atlantic for the middle of the country would be amazing, so would getting another top-tier offensive lineman in Foster from a neighboring state.
Though Mario Cristobal is an incredible recruiter with this Oregon program, he’s going to have overcome a lot geographically to keep pace with the other four programs vying for Foster’s commitment. Texas A&M may be the biggest threat to Oklahoma for Foster’s commitment, but let’s not cross off LSU or Texas just yet either. Oklahoma has to feel good about its chances here.
