3 trade deadline targets the Los Angeles Dodgers should consider
By Mike Luciano
The Dodgers are always going to take a chance on promising pitchers if the opportunity arises, and Musgrove has been rock solid for the Pirates over the last two seasons, culminating with a 4.06 ERA in 2019. Considering how he isn’t as highly regarded as Jameson Taillon, the Pirates might actually be willing to part ways with him if the bottom falls out once again and Bob Nutting wants to sell his best players.
The Dodgers’ back end of the rotation is currently occupied by Julio Urias and Alex Wood, both of whom could be major risks given how inconsistent they have been over the last few seasons. If Musgrove doesn’t take over a starting spot from one of them, his experience pitching in relief for a championship-winning Astros team shows that he can pitch two or three innings out of the bullpen in the same way Kenta Maeda did during the last few seasons.
