Which NFL offenses will take a giant leap forward in 2020?
By John Buhler
You know, with the amount of weapons they have at their disposal, the Cleveland Browns should have one of the most exciting offenses in football. However, we must remember they are the same Browns who always find a way to let us down. While new head coach Kevin Stefanski should bring a strong, conservative ground-centric offense to Northeast Ohio, he still has Baker Mayfield.
That’s not to say Mayfield can’t have a good season. In fact, we’re banking on Mayfield having a bounce-back season for the Browns. He is coming off the worst football season of his life. If he has been humbled by the Not For Long league, he just might be able to be the heir apparent to Bernie Kosar in Believeland. Simply put, he has no excuses not to have a great year.
Mayfield still has Odell Beckham Jr.and Jarvis Landry to throw the ball to. While David Njoku might want out, Mayfield’s Browns landed the best tight end on the free agent market in former Atlanta Falcons star Austin Hooper. Add in the fact he can always turn around and hand Nick Chubb or Kareem Hunt the football and this Browns offense could be stupendously good.
Cleveland upgraded both tackle spots. The Browns signed former first-rounder Jack Conklin away from the Tennessee Titans. They used their first-round pick on Jedrick Wills Jr. out of Alabama. In short, Cleveland will not be the No. 22 scoring offense again like they were a season ago. Look for the Browns to finish top-five on the ground and about top-15 through the air.
