Pick Analysis. East. 2. AFC. Miami Dolphins. player. 59. Scouting Report

As with the Cleveland Browns, the Miami Dolphins have so much opportunity to improve as an offense in 2020. Keep in mind a season ago, the ‘Phins were expected to win zero games and they went out and won five for first-year head coach Brian Flores. Though a defensive-minded coach with New England Patriots roots, he does have a good bit of offensive talent to work with.

Not only did the Dolphins bring in former New York Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey who presumed Week 1 starter Ryan Fitzpatrick thrived in his system, but Miami went out and used its No. 5 overall pick on Tua Tagovailoa out of Alabama. Though he could be the next brittle version of Sam Bradford, when he’s healthy, Tagovailoa throws a spiral even Dan Marino would be jealous of.

Miami got a great year out of former first-round pick DeVante Parker last season. He and Fitzpatrick developed quite the rapport down the stretch. 2020 looks to be a big year for tight end Mike Gesicki and look for newcomer running back Jordan Howard to be akin to what he was with the Chicago Bears and in college at UAB and Indiana. He’ll get back to being a bell-cow back.

With the great promise of Tagovailoa, we should expect the Dolphins offense to be better than 25th in scoring. Though it may be challenging for them to be better than 12th in passing yards, like the Atlanta Falcons, they have a ton of work to be made up in the ground game. As with Todd Gurley in Atlanta, Howard will elevate Miami’s league-worst ground game simply upon arrival.
