LSU football: 5 blue-chip recruits most likely to sign with LSU Tigers
By John Buhler
While landing Maason Smith’s commitment seems likely and getting Camar Wheaton’s commitment seems possible, it would be a best case scenario if five-star offensive tackle Tristan Leigh from Fairfax, Virginia makes his way to Baton Rouge. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound tackle prospect from the Robinson Secondary School is very high on LSU football these days.
Leigh is the No. 2 player from Virginia, the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 11 overall player in his class in the 247Sports Composite. He has 40 official offers and is looking at seven schools. While he does have interest in five other schools, the top two programs for him right now are LSU and the Clemson Tigers. So where will Leigh put on his tiger stripes in 2021?
James Cregg is Leigh’s primary recruiter. The LSU offensive line coach has landed one five-star player before in safety Su’a Cravens back when he was on the USC Trojans coaching staff. Clemson is throwing offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell into the ring for Leigh’s commitment. Caldwell has landed three five-stars at Clemson before, including Dexter Lawrence and Mitch Hyatt.
While other programs like Alabama, Maryland, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State are also vying for his commitment, they’ve got work to do to surpass Clemson or LSU in Leigh’s eyes. Clemson may be the favorite for his commitment at this time, but LSU has to love its chances to end up with the five-star offensive tackle prospect from Fairfax, Virginia at the end of the day.
