The latest Jadeveon Clowney news may scare Eagles fans.

Jadeveon Clowney remaining a free agent this far into the summer may come as a shock to many NFL fans. Yet it also means there is plenty of hope in several organizations that Clowney is still a potential option to sign.

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of those organizations and the star defender has been linked to the team in July. The team fits the bill of being competitive, which Clowney made clear was important to him.

However, there is one major problem that may explain why Clowney has not been signed. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it impossible for teams to get him in the building to be given a proper physical. A recent update from ESPN reporter Turron Davenport explains another team can jump the Eagles in the Clowney sweepstakes if they can just get him in the building.

Philadelphia Eagles are running out of time to sign Jadeveon Clowney

There must now be a much greater sense of urgency in Philadelphia if the goal is to sign Clowney. He wants to play for a contender and the Tennessee Titans also fit that description after going to the AFC Championship Game last season. Head coach Mike Vrabel coached Clowney in Houston and that connection should also worry Eagles fans.

Now it is a race to get Clowney in for a physical. That is not as easy as it sounds and a team like the Eagles may just need to have faith in his health to ensure he is signed. Doing so on a short-term deal would not be a season-ruining move even if he turned out to not be fully healthy.

There is still some bad blood between Clowney and Eagles fans after his hit on Carson Wentz knocked the quarterback out of last year’s Wild Card matchup. The team has apparently moved on and must now avoid another Clowney-related disaster if they wait too long to make an offer.
