Cannon’s firing came about after the release of his episode alongside hip hop figure Professor Griff, formerly of rap group Public Enemy. During said interview, Cannon called African Americans “true Hebrews,” while also discussing conspiracy theories about the Rothschild family.

On Monday, Cannon sent out numerous tweets to stress he doesn’t condone hate speech and that he holds himself “accountable for this moment.” Additionally, Cannon apologized to the Jewish community in a Facebook post on Tuesday, and stated that he’ll continue conversations to bring them and the African-American community closer together.

However, Cannon vehemently disagreed with the CBS’ decision to fire him.
