Kenny Stills faces felony charges after being arrested in Louisville.

Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills is one of dozens arrested in Louisville on Tuesday.

Stills and 86 others were arrested Tuesday for peacefully protesting demanding consequences for the police officers who killed Breonna Taylor. These 87 protestors are facing felony charges of “intimidating a participant in the legal process, a felony, as well as misdemeanor disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.” Stills had his arraignment hearing on Wednesday morning.

These charges stem from roughly 100 people who marched from Ballard High School in Louisville’s East End to the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, demanding the officers who murdered Taylor in her home back in March to be charged.

Per LMPD spokesman Lamont Washington, “Those protesters stood and chanted on Cameron’s lawn, and ‘at (Cameron’s) request, they were trespassed from the property. All were given the opportunity to leave before being arrested.”

Washington added the charges came “due to their refusal to leave the property and their attempts to influence the decision of the Attorney General with their actions.”

Should Kenny Stills be charged for his role in a peaceful protest?

Even if they did technically break the law, this whole thing feels embarrassing. Taylor’s killing, along with George Floyd’s by the Minneapolis police, has been at the forefront of the Black Lives Matter movement. It had been months since Taylor was killed, yet the state of Kentucky and the city of Louisville had not done anything to address the horrifying matter.

Stills dedicated his entire leg to the Black Lives Matter movement via tattoo, so we all know where he stands on the matter. He has been political during his eight-year NFL career out of Oklahoma. Stills had previously criticized Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross for supporting Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election back when he played down in South Beach.

If there is anything positive from nearly 100 people being arrested and facing felony charges in Louisville, Stills’ name is at the forefront of it. He plays wide receiver for one of the better teams in the AFC. Though not a star player for the Texans, he is a vibrant part of the Houston offense. The Texans have been extremely outspoken as an organization on all things BLM, top on down.

Look for Stills’ involvement in this peaceful protest to bring more light to the issues in Louisville.
