20. NFL Power Rankings: Los Angeles Chargers

On paper, the Chargers aren’t a bad football team. Both sides of the ball feature plenty of talent, but the major question surrounding Los Angeles in 2020 is what kind of play they will get out of the quarterback position.

Tyrod Taylor is slated to start right now and gives them the best chance to win immediately, but he is a game manager at this stage of his career who does limit the true upside of the Chargers. The intrigue may come from when the organization decides to give the reins to Justin Herbert, the sixth pick in April’s draft that is destined to succeed Philip Rivers as Los Angeles’ new franchise quarterback.

19. NFL Power Rankings: Los Angeles Rams

It’s hard to believe that the Rams were a Super Bowl team just two years ago. Nearly everything has gone wrong for Los Angeles since, including serious regression from Jared Goff and major salary cap woes that forced the team to trade away Brandin Cooks and let go of key players like Todd Gurley and Cory Littleton.

There is still enough talent on this roster to contend for a playoff berth but their path to the postseason got much harder with San Francisco joining Seattle atop the NFC West. Los Angeles has mortgaged its future, not holding its own first-round draft pick until 2022, so a failure to win now could give way to a very painful rebuilding period as the franchise opens SoFi Stadium.
