Jerami Grant used his entire interview session to focus on non-basketball issues.

With the current tensions over police brutality and race relations in our country, it’s important to have discussions and keeping the focus on solutions. Denver Nuggets forward Jerami Grant did his part in moving the conversation forward with his interview session on Wednesday.

He answered every question by referencing the death of Breonna Taylor and police brutality. Whether the question was about his team or how he is adjusting to bubble life, he always brought it back to the real issues.

Taylor was shot and killed by police in her sleep on March 13. No arrests have been made in the case.

More players should follow in Jerami Grant’s footsteps.

While Grant may not be the biggest name on the roster, it’s great to see him use his platform to raise awareness for something that is far more important than basketball. It would be tremendous to see more players adopt this strategy.

Nuggets coach Mike Malone commended Grant for his statements. During his press conference on Wednesday, he said, “For Jerami to dedicate his press conference to the memory of the life of Breonna Taylor is outstanding, so I applaud him for that.”

The Nuggets traded for Grant last offseason, giving up a 2020 first-round pick in exchange for his services. Grant started 22 games this season, coming off the bench most of the time. He averaged 11.6 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 40 percent from on 3-pointers.

Prior to the NBA season’s suspension, the Nuggets placed third in the Western Conference. They’ll look to challenge the Los Angeles teams for the Western Conference title when play resumes in late July.
