13. Michigan Wolverines 2017 “Advocare Classic” Alternate

The Michigan Wolverines are widely known as one of the most recognized teams in all of college football. Their maize and blue winged helmet is an all-time great, and should never be altered in any fashion, and for the most part, the Wolverines have avoided doing so. Unfortunately, the Michigan Wolverines are part of a special category in terms of uniforms.

It is a category that consists of teams who have simple and traditional uniforms, that look perfectly fine, but go way overboard when attempting to step out of their comfort zone and designing an alternate uniform. Usually, the Wolverines attempt a throwback styled alternate but this time around, Michigan took a different route.

In their 2017 season opener, the Michigan Wolverines traveled to Jerry’s World to take on the Florida Gators in the annual Advocare Classic. It was a great early season matchup between two Power Five schools. Entering halftime the Wolverines found themselves down 17-13 but 30 minutes of football later, the Wolverines would outscore the Gators 20-0 and win 33-17.

But for the Wolverines, their uniform decision matched more of their first-half performance than it did it’s last. Michigan came out in all maize uniforms that looked terrible. I’m sure there were some fans who embraced this look but this is not a Michigan Wolverines look. Maybe an all-blue look would look nice but the Wolverines stepped way out of bounds with this attempt to stay trendy.
