15 college football uniforms that are total fashion disasters (Photos)
8. Georgia Bulldogs 2011 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Alternate
As stated before, the combination of red, black, and white are the perfect trio in designing a uniform. In the Georgia Bulldogs case, they have rocked this look with simplicity and have one of the most recognizable uniforms throughout the history of college football. The red or white jersey on silver pants is a clean look that is accompanied by a red helmet with the Georgia “G” in bold black on both sides.
And the Bulldogs have branched out a few times and have had some good looking alternates. But in their 2011 season opener versus the Boise State Broncos in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, the Bulldogs were outperformed and out dressed. In their 35 to 21 loss to the Broncos, the Bulldogs wore probably the worst uniform in program history.
Honestly, the jersey and the pants would look great with white numbers outlined in black, and depending on your taste, the black sleeves could have stayed as it isn’t terrible. But the helmet is where this uniform gets lost at. I’m just going to start with the obvious: the red stripe on the silver helmet continues down into the black face mask. I get messing up the helmet, but it takes true skill to mess up the face mask this bad. And the fact that the helmet is silver, while it is paired with an all-red uniform just makes it stand out even more.
And the stripe size? Let me be the first one to say that there are do’s and don’ts on the size of the helmet stripe and this is a don’t.
Look good, play good, right? Well, it’s evident that on this day the Bulldogs did not look or play well.
