NFL power rankings: Which AFC quarterback is best?
14. Ryan Fitzpatrick/Tua Tagavailoa, Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins get to be at the top of the “unsettled quarterback position” because if they do not start they’re rookie quarterback, they have a better veteran to start than do the Chargers.
Fifteen-year veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick is a serviceable starter in this league. He’ll never be a Pro Bowler, but he can win games. That said, it’s clear the team views Tagavailoa as the future.
However, not only has Tagovailoa suffered from this unconventional offseason, but he is also coming off an injury-riddled season at Alabama including major hip surgery in November. Miami is building a quality team – but until proven otherwise, their quarterback position remains a mystery
13. Gardner Minshew, Jacksonville Jaguars
One should expect this is the highest we’ll see the Jaguars in the quarterback rankings during the 2020 season. Minshew had a decent rookie season, finishing 6-6 in his 12 starts, and with 21 touchdowns against six picks.
However, one should expect the bad team around him likely hurts his stock. The backup option is even less compelling, with veteran Mike Glennon in tow. Minshew could surprise us with above-average play during the regular season, but for now, he’s at the bottom of known-commodities rankings.
