2. Oregon football breakout players: Mycah Pittman

Everyone is talking about one wide receiver when it comes to the Oregon Ducks. Senior Johnny Johnson is going to end on all the preseason watch lists and the analysts are going to say he’s the player that will help Shough take the next step in his college career. Meanwhile, Mycah Pittman is making headlines for showing off his Oregon gear.

Don’t let his elaborate social media presence distract you from what he’s going to do on the field. We expected big things from Pittman last year in Herbert’s final season, but he was largely a disappointment. That’s not going to help him in his fight with Jaylon Redd for time in the slot, but this kid is too talented to keep on the bench.

Pittman has some of the best hands in college football. The former four-star recruit dominates in practice, but he dealt with some injuries last season forcing him to only appear in seven games. The Ducks did win all seven of those games, but that feels like more of a coincidence.

The son of former NFL running back Michael Pittman and younger brother of former USC receiver Michael Pittman, Jr, Mycah has the running ability of his father. He can shed tackles after the catch. The younger Pittman needs to use that ability in the passing offense, as Shough needs to have as many reliable receivers as possible. If Johnson gets double teamed, Pittman needs to make the other team pay. We see him as a player that can absolutely do that.
