Expect Ja’Marr Chase to be the first of many receivers to come off the board in the 2021 NFL Draft’s first round.

It is anyone’s guess who the next one will be. Here, we went with Alabama wide receiver Devonta Smith. Had Smith entered the 2020 draft, he would have been a first-round pick. Instead, he chose to go back to school and compete to be the top wideout taken in 2021.

No longer in the shadows of fellow Crimson Tide wideout and first round draft picks Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III, Smith is sure to get substantially more targets to showcase their talents this season. At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, he excels in every area of the game but especially has great hands and a stutter-release that most NFL receivers should envy.

If Detroit ends up higher in the first round than this, it might consider taking one of the draft’s top quarterbacks to begin to groom him under Matthew Stafford. Here, the Lions invest more into the defensive side of the football once again.

After using the No. 3 overall pick on cornerback Jeff Okudah in April, the Lions go with linebacker Dylan Moses. The Alabama standout fits the mold of the new hybrid NFL linebacker, much like former Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons. The Lions will take advantage of his versatility as they continue to battle to get back into the NFC North conversation.
