PEORIA, ARIZONA – MARCH 09: Max Muncy #13 of the Los Angeles Dodgers gets ready in the batters box against the San Diego Padres during a spring training game at Peoria Stadium on March 09, 2020 in Peoria, Arizona. (Photo by Norm Hall/Getty Images) /

2020 Los Angeles Dodgers projected starting lineup:

Mookie Betts, RF (.295, 29 HR, 80 RBI, 16 SB in 597 AB with BOS)
Max Muncy, 1B (.251, 35 HR, 98 RBI, 4 SB in 487 AB)
Justin Turner, 3B (.290, 27 HR, 67 RBI, 2 SB in 479 AB)
Cody Bellinger, CF (.305, 47 HR, 115 RBI, 15 SB in 558 AB)
Corey Seager, SS (.272, 19 HR, 87 RBI, 1 SB in 489 AB)
AJ Pollock, LF (.266, 15 HR, 47 RBI, 5 SB in 308 AB)
Joc Pederson, DH (.249, 36 HR, 74 RBI, 1 SB in 450 AB)
Will Smith, C (.253, 15 HR, 42 RBI, 2 SB in 170 AB)
Chris Taylor, 2B (.262, 12 HR, 52 RBI, 8 SB in 366 AB)

The rich got richer when the Dodgers hijacked Mookie from the Red Sox. He’s still a first-round pick, and I’ve seen him go in the top eight of every draft. The only Dodger higher than him is Bellinger. Add in the fact that he is still eligible at 1B in most leagues, and I’d consider taking Bellinger first overall. 1B is the thinnest position besides catcher.

Muncy will lose 2B eligibility but will still be eligible at 1B. His numbers translate well at any position. The average keeps Muncy out of the elite tier, but keep in mind that he does have 70 homers in 882 at bats with the Dodgers after only hitting five in 225 at bats with Oakland. His power still makes Muncy a top-30 pick.

Pederson is still a nice pick in the middle rounds for power, but that average is going to hurt. His .249 mark last season was his highest career mark, so don’t expect much if anything more.

Everyone in the Dodgers lineup is worth owning just for the runs scored potential alone. Turner is a solid middle round pick as is Seager. Pollock is solid in the later round to finish out your bench.

Smith carries an elite home run rate in low at-bats to catcher this season. That said, I’m less worried about it this year than most. Smith will probably get right around the same at bats last year as this year. If he cracks 15 homers again, he’ll be a top three catcher that you don’t have to pay top three price for.

Prospects to watch:

Lux had a chance to make an impact last year, this summer, and again over the last couple of weeks. He hasn’t yet. The best case is he does enough to earn a platoon with Chris Taylor, making both risky plays. That said, Lux is still a top-rated prospect. I don’t mind him as a bench stash. Just wait until the Dodgers call him back up first.
