10 UDFAs who could make the most impact in the 2020 NFL season
By Matt Conner
1. Yasir Durant, OT, Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are set at offensive tackle with one of the league’s better (and most underrated) tandems in Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz. However, behind them, the cupboard was pretty bare this spring with the departure of free agent Cam Erving.
The Chiefs selected Texas Christian tackle Lucas Niang in the third round of this year’s draft, but he’s expected to actually compete inside for starting reps while he develops at the pro level, which opens up a potential spot for Yasir Durant, an impressive Missouri product who could keep playing football so close to home.
Durant is a mammoth prospect at 6-foot-7, 330 pounds, but he’s both strong and deceptively quick. He’s served as the Tigers starting left tackle since the 2017 season, so he knows what it means to anchor the blindside against college football’s finest pass rushers. The Chiefs paid handsomely to bring Durant to camp, and given that active rosters will be a bit expanded this season, Durant has a real shot at being OL9 or 10 for the defending champs.
