Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago sent an adorable video to Anthony Rizzo wishing him good luck this season.
In times like these, it’s especially great to see things that will bring a smile to our face. That’s why this video made by nurses and patients from Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago was so perfect. In the video, they wish Cubs first baseman, Anthony Rizzo, good luck on his upcoming season and it absolutely melted our hearts.
As a childhood cancer survivor himself, Anthony Rizzo has always shown support for the community. He founded the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation in 2012, which offers support for families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Anthony Rizzo has donated millions of dollars to the hospital in recent years.
In 2017, Rizzo committed $3.5 million to the Lurie Children’s Hospital. The money helps families that are struggling financially due to their children’s cancer treatment. It also pays for hospital specialists that help to better the hospital experience for children and their families. In 2018, Rizzo donated another $2 million to the hospital.
Rizzo often visits the hospital with his wife, Emily to support children going through treatment. In recognition of his generosity, the hospital named the a waiting room in his honor. Today, the hospital’s 18th floor waiting room is known as “The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation Waiting Room.”
Rizzo and the Cubs begin their season against the Brewers at Wrigley Field on Friday night. With the support of Lurie Children’s Hospital, Rizzo will want to make 2020 a season to remember.
