 DraftKings MLB Pitcher Plays:

For me, pitching is pretty simple tonight. There are three aces going, but only Gerrit Cole is priced like one. Johnny Cueto used to be an ace, but he missed most of last season and has to open against the Dodgers. Still, his $5,000 price tag looks appetizing.

Where to go from there? Let’s take a look at the stats on the other four. All active players are included in this:

Washington Nationals vs. Gerrit Cole: 16/73(.219), 2 HR, 13 RBI, 24 K
New York Yankees vs. Max Scherzer: 12/59(.203), 3 HR, 8 RBI, 26 K
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Johnny Cueto: 43/143(.301), 6 HR, 15 RBI, 36 K
San Francisco Giants vs. Clayton Kershaw: 47/264(.178), 3 HR, 12 RBI, 79 K

By those stats, we see what a risk Cueto is. Kershaw has dominated the Giants and he’s money at home. He should be an anchor in any cash lineup. For maximum strikeout upside, it looks like Kershaw and Scherzer are the way to go in cash games, especially when you consider their prices relative to Cole.

As for Cueto, the price is right to make a big bat lineup, but most of the expensive bats are on the team facing him. Where does that leave us? Cueto should be avoided in cash games, but GPP’s could be a different story.

If you are just looking for about 12-15 points out of Cueto, the price is right.
