HOUSTON, TX – OCTOBER 19: George Springer #4 of the Houston Astros celebrates as he runs the bases after a walk-off home run by Jose Altuve #27 in the ninth inning against the New York Yankees during Game Six of the League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park on October 19, 2019 in Houston, Texas. 2020 Houston Astros projected starting lineup:

George Springer, CF (.292, 39 HR, 96 RBI, 6 SB in 479 AB)
Jose Altuve, 2B (.298, 31 HR, 74 RBI, 6 SB in 500 AB)
Michael Brantley, LF (.311, 22 HR, 90 RBI, 3 SB in 575 AB)
Alex Bregman, 3B (.296, 41 HR, 112 RBI, 5 SB in 554 AB)
Yuli Gurriel, 1B (.298, 31 HR, 104 RBI, 5 SB in 564 AB)
Josh Reddick, RF (.275, 14 HR, 56 RBI, 5 SB in 501 AB)
Carlos Correa, SS (.279, 21 HR, 59 RBI, 1 SB in 280 AB)
Yordan Alvarez, DH (.313, 27 HR, 78 RBI, 0 SB in 313 AB)
Martin Maldonado, C (.213, 6 HR, 10 RBI, 0 SB in 84 AB)

How much is the sign stealing going to affect these numbers? That’s the question on everyone’s mind. Due to this, you may get some Astros a little cheaper. Regardless of that mess, Springer, Altuve, and Bregman have always been good hitters. Same with Correa. For me their stock changes little.

There are some crazy HR/AB ratios on this team, in particular Springer, Correa, and Alvarez. That’s not even including Bregman, who is the best 3B out there and a top-eight pick at worst. Springer is more of a second rounder for me, but I’ve seen him go at the end of the first.

I love the upside on Alvarez, but the Astros not disclosing the reason for him landing on the DL is a bit concerning. I still want him on my roster, but his stock hasn’t dropped enough yet for me to take the plunge.

Altuve and Correa are both strong options at loaded positions. I’ve seen them slip into the third round. I’m very happy with Altuve there. I prefer Correa to go in the fourth or later before I pounce. Pay attention to how other teams draft. If the teams around you have those positions filled, those two will last a little longer than usual.

Gurriel often goes unnoticed in this lineup, but at a thin position with numbers like that, he shouldn’t. I have no issues taking Gurriel in the late fifth round or so.

Brantley is a nice guy to have in the middle of your outfield, especially if he can keep the average up. Batting third in this lineup doesn’t hurt either. I would only take Reddick near the end of drafts. He hasn’t hit 20 homers in a season since 2015 and his average doesn’t help much in a standard league.

Prospects to watch:

Abraham Toro is ready for the majors but has no place to play. He’s talented, but unless he’s getting a few starts a week, he’s not going to be worth the bench slot.

Garrett Stubbs isn’t going to wow you with his bat, but chances are he’s better offensively than Maldonado right now. Keep an eye on this.
